Should You Switch From Coffee to Matcha Green Tea?

You may have seen many wellness experts, celebrities, and trainers getting on the matcha train. Making you wonder if you should switch your coffee to matcha green tea?
First, let's start with exactly what matcha is.
Matcha is a form of green tea, using the whole tea leaf and is then ground into a fine, vibrant green powder. It's grown in the shade, which increases its chlorphyll content. Chlorphyll is extremely beneficial to us Balanced Bombshells since it aids in our body's detoxification process.
Matcha is also high in antioxidants, in particular a catechin called EGCg (epigallocatechin gallate). It helps counteract free radicals, can help prevent cancer, and its high antioxidant content is great for our skin, hair, and nails. It's also been shown to help burn more calories and increase our metabolism!
These body benefits are why I love sipping on matcha!
Many people who drink matcha notice they have a calmer energy and don't feel jittery, which is a common complaint about coffee. They report feeling more focused and don't have an energy crash later in the day.
Personally, I cycle sync my caffeine. I pay close attention to the parts of my cycle where my body is naturally less resilient to stress, like the week before and during my period. If I can feel I'm not going to tolerate caffeine well, I sip on herbal tea instead. If I'm at a time of month where my body doesn't feel that much of an impact from caffeine, then I'll have matcha or treat myself to an almond milk cappuccino.
If you've been curious about matcha green tea, then try it! Try it for a week and see how you feel. You might notice your skin glowing, your energy feels calmer, and you detox on the regular 🤗
When making matcha at home, I love Jade Leaf's ceremonial grade matcha. I always look for one that is a vibrant green color (some actually look brown and this means it's not fresh!).
