A Balanced Bombshell is always looking for a leg up in the beauty department. This winter, there are four natural beauty buys you'll want as part of your routine.
In 2016, Allure Magazine reported that 73% of Millennial women wanted more green beauty products, as compared to 59% of women over the age of 35. Which means our generation is driving the beauty industry to offer more all natural and organic products!
Our skin is our largest organ and if we consistently use products that are loaded with chemicals, we cause blockages with our hormones. This means no longer needed hormones aren't able to exit the body as effectively, causing unnecessary stress.
We know how important it is to care about what we put in and on our bodies. Personally, I noticed the biggest change to my skin when I ditched my old beauty products and switched to all natural ones.
Here are four natural beauty buys I'm in love with and you'll want to add to your winter routine:
Growing in popularity are powders you can add to your water or smoothies that will give a boost to your skin, hair, and nails. Collagen is the main focus here.
Collagen is like the glue that holds your body together and works by improving the elasticity to your skin. This can lead to smoothing out wrinkles and reducing the appearance of cellulite.
It also helps repair and keep your muscles strong. If you have any gut health issues, collagen can help seal the lining of your stomach so your body can absorb the nutrients you eat.
On Instagram, you might have seen some wellness junkies brushing their teeth with charcoal powder. It can help whiten teeth, but also clear our skin.
Charcoal works by drawing out the toxins and impurities in your skin. You can buy the free form powder and make your own DIY face mask. Or you can find over the counter products. Make sure you look for "activated charcoal".
Some Balanced Bombshells approved products that contain charcoal are DERMA E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub with Activated Charcoal and Raw Nice Activated Charcoal Powder.
3. Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gel is one of my favorites. You might know of using aloe vera gel when you have a sunburn, but I've found it makes a great skin toner. After I wash my face, I rub on a touch of gel. It's tightened my pores and reduces redness - great for any of those harsh winter winds!
You can also make your skin glow from the inside out by drinking aloe vera juice (found in any health food store). I take a shot of it every morning in my Bombshell Shooter. You can learn how to make it here.
4. Coconut Oil
With temperatures starting to drop, our skin can dry out with it. I love using coconut oil as a moisturizer in the winter.
After washing your face and applying aloe vera gel, rub on some coconut oil before bedtime (I only use it at bedtime as it makes my skin a bit too oily in the morning). All night long your skin will be moisturizing and you'll wake up to super soft skin!
