6 Superfoods You Need To Sneak Into Smoothies

It's no secret I love smoothies. They may be trendy, but for good reason. They make you feel AMAZING!

When else can you sneak in so many vegetables without thinking, "gosh, I just can't eat one more veggie dish"? It actually feels like a treat.

Smoothies aid in digestion and increase your gut flora, creating healthy bacteria in your belly so you make happy hormones. Plus, you can sneak in superfoods to add more nutrients into your diet.

I'm all about eating superfoods that boost your body.

What is a superfood?

A superfood is a nutrient dense food that gives your body more of what it needs. Like if you were going to eat a donut, you wouldn't get many nutrients from it. When you live by eating more superfoods you take your health and hormone game to a whole new level.

Superfoods are like multi-tasking for your body and a must for every Balanced Bombshell

Here are six of my top fave superfoods to sneak into smoothies:

1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon stabilizes your blood sugar. Tastes great on anything! Like making a sweet quinoa breakfast bowl, in your tea, coffee, baked goods, or a fun twist in a meat rub or veggie dish.

2. Beets

I've been eating beets most days of the week and have definitely noticed a difference with my cycle! It gets the blood circulating in your body and you may noticed more energy and less cramps during your period. There's a reason athletes use this for an endurance boost!

3. Cordyceps

Cordyceps is a mushroom that enhances endurance, stamina, and energy. I'll add this any time I need an extra energy boost to a green smoothie or tea. That way I don't need any caffeine!

4. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen herb that reduces cortisol. It makes you a Balanced Bombshell in no time!

5. Collagen

I'm OBSESSED! This is a Bombshells best friend because it strengthens your gut, promotes lean muscle, and keeps your skin supple by reducing wrinkles and inflammation. BOOM!

6. Cilantro

Ok, ok, you might be thinking this would taste gross. But when you add it into your smoothie, you don't taste it! Any time I need extra detoxing or I can sense estrogen is backed up in my liver, I add a cup of cilantro to a smoothie.

Let's look at a recipe to see how this all comes together! I've been sipping on different varieties of this smoothie for most days of my cycle and have seen a HUGE energy increase because of the beets!

  • 1 cup coconut water

  • 1/4 cup pomegranate juice (brightens your eyes, kills off stress, and clears your skin!)

  • 1/2 cup mixed berries

  • 1 medium beet, chopped

  • 1/2 cucumber, chopped

  • 1 cup cilantro

  • 1 in. ginger

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1 handful spinach

  • 1 tbsp. hempseeds

  • collagen powder

  • depending on my energy and stress levels, I'd add in either cordyceps or ashwagandha... ok, and maybe even a tbsp. of cacao - for the magnesium!

Put all your ingredients into a high powered blender, then blend and sip!

Kind of like Elle's bend and snap on Legally Blonde - hormone style 😊
